Modeling Squirrel

I don't think I'm crazy -- the Gray Squirrels in our yard are looking particularly handsome right now:

I just love those dark red faces, pale gray and white bodies and bellies, and super fluffy tails. And they're pretty fat now, too, which can only mean extra cuteness:

Incidentally, we had our first snow of the season yesterday, and it was a pretty significant one (several inches of dense stuff), although it's quickly melting already. I love the way everything looks in the snow, and I'm hoping this winter will be a snowy one!

  1. Love those fat fuzzy squirrels! They keep us amused all winter as they foil our attempts to keep them out of the birdfeeders. Actually, I don't mind feeding the squirrels, we just like to give them challenges and watch how they always manage to overcome them. Your squirrels have the reddest faces I've ever seen on a Gray Squirrel. Almost as if they had some Fox Squirrel in them.

    1. I agree, the red faces look really strange! (These two pictures are actually of the same squirrel, but I've seen a few around here that look like this.) And I haven't noticed it so much in our local squirrels before now, so I'm assuming it has to do with their winter coat. Squirrels are indeed fun to watch, and I love your idea of giving them challenges to overcome. :P
